Mengesha "Mystro" Francis
Mengesha "Mystro" Francis was born, June 13, 1971. He is of African-American and Ethiopian descent. He goes by the stage name "Mystro" that was givin to him by Rap Producer "Battlecat". "Mystro" is a native of South Central Los Angeles, is a classically-trained pianist, and has a Gospel, Hip-Hop, and Classical styles of playing the piano. Mengesha started out as a child actor.
After an audition for National a commercial Mengesha developed Chicken Pox and lost the lead role in the 1974 Jack In The Box commercial that made actor Rodney Allen Rippy famous for saying the line, "It's too big to eat."
Mengesha was later managed by actor Corey Feldman's father Robert Feldman, CEO of New Talent Enterprises. He studied with and hung out with Corey and other child stars including Drew Barrymore; Josh Hartnett; and the late Corey Haim.
Under Robert Feldman's management Mengesha won many auditions for movies such as Juice and House Party II. Mengesha attended UCLA, and West LA College and can read, write and improvise music. After continuing his training he became a music teacher with Heavenly Vision Christian Academy from 1991-1995. During his tenure at Heavenly Vision, Mystro founded the Power of Music Children's Choir, which was a finalist in the McDonald's Gospel Fest of 1995.
Later he began working professionally with seasoned Rap and R&B recording artists, and has been a member of The Professional Musicians Union Local 47 since 2000.
Some of his musical production work can be found on MCA Records, Capitol Records, Virgin Records and a Host of Hollywood's Best! Mystro's upcoming projects is a Musical Medley Piano Tribute to Michael Jackson, that will feature some of "The King Of Pop's" Greatest Songs, in which he calls Michael Jacksonology": In The Key Of Pop.
On February, 2008, Mystro founded School Time Music Productions, a musical production company getting kids excited about education through Pop and Hip-Hop music. Mystro currently serves as president and musical producer of School Time Music Productions, and is currently underway with School Tyme Hip-Hop; School Time Jazz; School Time Rock and many more subsidiaries of School Time Music Productions.
The first project School Time Music Productions will produce is a single for School Tyme Hip-Hop geared toward getting children K-8 excited about education through the art of Hip-Hop music. On April 26th, 2008 Mystro, was featured in the Entertainment section of the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper. He discussed the development of his company, and their goals. "Mystro's" Piano influences range from Bach, Beethoven, and Stravinsky to Thelonious Monk, Jerry Lee Lewis, Herbie Hancock, and Quincy Jones.
